Inside Prison – Insideprison.com is an independent research site on criminal justice issues. The site contains numerous articles of interest on all aspects of prison life as well as material related to prisoner suicide. The site also includes a useful breakdown of suicides by state drawn from Bureau of Justice Statistics information.

Suicide Prevention Resource Center – The Suicide Prevention Resource Center is a federally funded program managed through the Department of Health and Human Services. The purpose of the center is to support suicide prevention by sponsoring research and making resources on suicide prevention available to the public. The site contains a valuable page with an excellent material and resources for correctional personnel on the issue of prisoner suicide prevention.

Nat'l Center on Institutions and Alternatives – This site is a project of the National Center on Institutions and Alternatives which provides services to defendants and defense attorneys across the country. The site contains the National Study of Jail Suicide: 20 Years Later. This report, which was commissioned by the National Institute of Corrections of the US Justice Department, contains valuable up-to-date information on prisoner suicide that should prove useful to any correctional officer.

Nat'l Institute of Corrections – The National Institute of Corrections is part of the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Institute provides training, information and development assistance to corrections agencies at all levels of government. The agency publishes valuable research on prisoner suicide and all aspects of the work of correctional agencies.

Suicide by Cop – The author of this site is Rebecca Stincelli, a recognized expert in the field who worked with the Sacramento County California Sheriff's Department as a crisis interventionist. The site contains several officer accounts of specific incidents involving suicide or near suicide by cop, and valuable resources for police officers and their families.

Police Magazine – Police Magazine covers all aspects of law enforcement and includes columns by police and legal experts as well as issue oriented features on specific topics. Associate Editor Dean Scoville, a veteran Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officer, maintains a page around the theme of suicide by cop with a long article detailing some recent research and the stories of police officers who found themselves caught up in someone's plan to provoke a violent death.

Journal of Forensic Sciences – The most recent study of the Suicide by Cop phenomenon which is published in The Journal of Forensic Sciences paints a disturbing picture and concludes that it is much more common than previously believed.
